VCPA September 2021 COVID-19 Policies

Hello everyone,
We are so excited for another year at Visionary Centre for the Performing Arts! As we go into our fall session, we just wanted to let you know about our updated COVID-19 policies:

Mask Policy:

  • All students, parents & teachers will be required to wear a mask or face shield while indoors.
  • Students in our Music Funtime & Kindermusik classes (ages 0-3 years) are exempt, but the parents will still need them.
  • Parents with students 7 and up are asked to remain in their vehicles during drop off and pick up to limit people in the waiting area. We ask for only one parent to wait in the waiting room during class time with children under 7 years of age.
  • Families must exit the class and waiting rooms immediately when the class is completed.
  • Please stay home if you are exhibiting any COVID symptoms - lessons are available online or we can book a make up lesson.

Cleaning & Sanitizing:

  • There is hand sanitizer available at every entrance that we ask you to use when you come in for lessons.
  • All teachers will wipe down door knobs, light switches, instruments, and anything that has been touched by students between each class / private lesson.
  • Our vocal & wind instrument rooms are provided with plexiglass barriers between the students & teachers for added protection.

**Please be sure to check your email and social media for any future updates we may have regarding COVID-19 policies and lessons.

We want to make sure everyone feels safe during this time, so please let us know if you have any questions, comments or concerns regarding any of our COVID-19 policies or just lessons in general.

Sincerely,
The Team at VCPA

General Safety

  • Staff members and children will not attend the program if they are sick, even if symptoms resemble a mild cold. Symptoms to look for include: fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, nasal congestion, headache, and a general feeling of being unwell.
  • Parents and guardians are required to check the temperatures of their children daily before coming to lessons.
  • Staff must conduct active symptom screening of each child every day with the parent or guardian as they drop off their children.

Illness

Prevention

  • If a child develops symptoms while at the program, the child will be isolated away from other children and the parent or guardian will be notified to come and pick up the child immediately.
  • If a staff member develops illness while at work, they will immediately remove themselves from any contact with others, notify their supervisor and go home.

Drop Off & Pick Up

Procedures

  • For pick up and drop off:
    • St Albert Location - please use the back entrance
    • Edmonton Location - please use the front door.
  • Please have only one designated parent for pick up/drop off and please wait in your vehicle until the designated start/end times.
  • Hand sanitizer will be placed in all entrances to the program area for use by staff, students, and parents doing pick-ups/drop-offs.
  • Parents/caregivers and children will practise social distancing when picking up and dropping off small children, maintaining a distance of 6 feet.

Physical Distancing

& Shared Spaces

  • Washroom door handles and faucets will be sanitized after each use.
  • There will be no close greetings like hugs or handshakes and encourage physically-distant greetings such as “air fives” and waves.
